Even though our summer is not panning out as we thought, with minimal sunshine and lots of rain, we turned our focus to all things bright, colourful and happy this month to give us those summer feels. Here's what we've been up to.

Cannes Lions Big Winners

After the 2020 Cannes Lions got cancelled due to the pandemic, it great to see it finally back, albeit virtually. Lucky for us it’s a bumper year as they honour work from 2020 and 2021. Adland has made it clear just how much a Cannes Lions award means via an outpouring of joy by the winners across social media. We have loved seeing the winners getting announced, celebrating creativity, and inspiring us to always improve. Personal favourites have been the Bodyfrom PainStories,  Dove’s Courage is Beautiful campaign and Mastercard’s True Name.

What we're watching

The Euros 20/21

The Euros are back and after a miserable 18months it’s great to have something to unite us all and provide a much needed escape. Even some of our less than enthusiastic football fans have appreciate the daily football catch up in our office. Our very own Des Lynam (a.k.a Magic Mike) has been sure to keep us all update with the highlights on and off the pitch. With the obligatory sweepstake in place we all waited with bated breath to see who would flounder at the first hurdle. Whilst it was a thrilling start with England not losing their first match, the first time they’ve won the opening game of a European Championship, we have also experienced the kind of high drama that helps put life into perspective. Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed face first into the pitch with no other player near him during his side’s match against Finland. It brought home to us all just how unifying nature of sport can be: Uniting supporters, both teams, competing nations with a love for the beautiful game around the world.

What we're looking back on

Baking the world a better place

Looking back to last year when the S4 crew donned their aprons and whipped out whisks to raise money for cancer research.  What a scrummy way to help make a difference. Not sure our waistlines were thanking us. What an amazing bunch of bakers we are though, not bad for a bunch of amateurs. Maybe its time we dusted off those cake tins again… we are feeling peckish!
